Contour and Landform
The property is gently undulating, with a fall from its central section towards the river frontage. To the northwest the land rises steeply to road frontage with Gamoran Valley Road, becoming quite rugged in sections with numerous rocky outcrops and scattered timbered slopes.
Ditterly has been extensively cleared for pasture and has native vegetation along its gullies as well as the slopes leading down to the river. Bindook porphyry dry woodland is on the high elevations to the east.
Soil types consist of Lithosols on the upper slopes, particularly in the high elevations in the east, and well drained red earths on the mid and lower slopes. There are some Yellow Podzolics on the mid slopes to the west, with alluvial soils and Chernozems on the river terraces.
The principal rock types consist of Marulan granite over the majority of the property. Quaternary alluvium exists along the river and main gullies draining to The Pound. There are surface outcrops of weathered granite on the tops of most rises. Soils range in depth from 0.2 to in excess of 2 metres. Topsoils are sandy and earthy and are well drained.
Elevation above sea level ranges from 500 metres at the river to 675 metres on Ditly Hill.
